These pictures are amazing! They are exactly how I remember Camp Ro-Li! The cabins, the H-shaped dock, the main house...all are etched in my memory along with many many camp songs and many happy memories!! Thank you for this site and the pics. (Is there any way I can get copies of the pics?
THANKS SO MUCH FOR STARTING THIS SITE/BLOG. I ATTENDED RO-LI FOR 5 YEARS, THEN WAS A C.I.T. THERE FOR ONE SUMMER, THEN, SADLY, IT CLOSED FOR GOOD. IT WAS A BIG PART OF MY CHILDHOOD; GREAT MEMORIES, SO, AGAIN, MANY THANKS....
THANKS FOR STARTING THIS SITE/BLOG ABOUT CAMP RO-LI
WE were Assistant Directors in 1964/65 and I was Camp Nurse in '65 as well. Arlene and Pete were good friends of ours but have lost contact. Warren and I have lived in Australia with our daughter and son since 1971. Our time at Camp Ro-Li was very special--mainly due to the great staff and campers!

I remember Ro-Li too! I started there in 1948 and eventually was a kitchen boy. I knew Arlene as Arlene Generasio, and before she met Pete. I have lots of photos and the 16mm films my dad shot every year thru the fifty's. I am now having them digitized and plan on donating them, the photos, and lots of other Belleville memorabilia to the library. I have just finished putting together something on the Nature Friends camp and Blue Mine that we used to hike to. I'd love to hear from anyone who knows more about the abandoned cottage and dammed-up pond that was on the trail going up there. Jim
Thank you for this lovely site! I was a camper from 1961-65 and loved every minute at Camp Ro-Li. I looked forward to those two weeks all year. I learned to swim, dive, row and make lanyards among all the other wonderful activities. The staff was excellent, the fellow campers were always fun to be with and the bug juice was great! Camp Ro-Li remains a very important part of my formative years.
I remember the kind nurse when I was a camper there in '64/65! That must have been you Donna! I had to stay in the infirmary overnite once I remember. The foundation and fireplace of the infirmary is still there - the Only remains of any of the buildings. and the basket ball court is still there! What was Pete and Arlene's last name please?
I spent four very memorable, and pleasurable at Camp Ro-Li, from 1959-1962. I always wondered what happened to it. So sad to hear it became a housing development!!!!
